Capstone Project: Analytics for Better World Books

As part of my MSBA capstone at the University of Notre Dame, I worked with Better World Books to build a data analytics system that helps uncover trends, evaluate promotions, and support strategic decisions.

What I Built

  • Processed and organized over 2 years of multi-platform sales and promotions data
  • Used Prophet to create reliable forecasts of revenue trends and seasonal patterns
  • Built an analytics page that lets users interact with key metrics, filter by platform or promotion type, and explore the impact of marketing decisions
  • Included weekly rankings of the most effective promotion strategies by profit

Skills & Tools Used
Python | SQL | PostgreSQL | Prophet | Streamlit | Altair | Data Cleaning | Forecasting

Key Outcomes

  • Enabled the business to quickly identify which promotions performed best
  • Made future revenue trends more visible with Prophet forecasts
  • Empowered users to experiment with filters and views to answer their own business questions

This project has been a great opportunity to apply data science to a real-world business challenge and build something decision-makers can actually use.

Big thanks to Paul and the Better World Books analytics team for their guidance!
